Obviously, the generating of new Yoshkar-Ola is influenced by Italian architecture.
So, the appearance of a quiet cozy Italian park with red maples in the architectural ensemble of Archangel Quarter was quite natural. In the middle of the park there a monument to signor Lorenzo di Medici, the patron of arts and science of Italia.

There are some monuments to fictional characters in our city, like sculptural composition Pushkin and Onegin. It shows Alexandr Sergeevich Pushkin, favourite and most revered poet for all Russians and probably his most famous character Evgeniy Onegin.

By all means the favorite monument of all the city residents and guests of Mari El republic capital is a big, fat and a bit perky Yoshkin Cat. Its a sculptural composition depicting a cat sitting on a bench in a carefree pose with the expression of absolute happiness on his face. There is plenty of room next to him on the bench for a small group of tourists who want to take a picture and they use their chance. And judging by its shiny foot one should definitely rub it for luck!
